In the end of January, 2020 EuropeYou will participate to the kick off meeting of KA2 Capacity Building project “Youth Workers 4 Global Goals”, that will be held in Parnu, Estonia. We are very glad to start this new adventure with partners from Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Denmark, Estonia and Belgium.
The project will aim to raise awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to activate youth workers in order to contribute to their achievement, promoting local, national and international initiatives.
In September 2015, the General Assembly of United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Building on the principle of “leaving no one behind”, the new Agenda emphasizes a holistic approach to achieving sustainable development for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice.
For these reasons, youth-led organisations and specifically youth workers need to be encouraged and empowered to participate in translating the 2030 Agenda into local, national and regional policy. They can play a significant role in the implementation, monitoring and review of the Agenda as well as in holding youth accountable. With commitment and adequate resources, youth organisations have the potential to make the most effective transformation of the world into a better place for all.
