Women empowerment and employability

In the beginning of April, EuropeYou youth workers organized a workshop about women empowerment and employability in Torremolinos, Spain. During the event were discussed several topics such as the obstacles women face in their path to employability, the support and skills that young women need in order to successfully enter the labour market and the increased need for women of sustainable employment, and self-employment through entrepreneurship.

The event was attended by several young ladies with migrant background that shared their stories about the challenges they faced while looking for a job or training opportunities for developing their employability and social skills. Between the participants, there were also some women that successfully started their small businesses based on artisanal food production and hand made products, so they could also share good practice from their entrepreneurship experience.

Women´s empowerment and achieving gender equality is essential for our society to ensure the sustainable development of the country. Women are empowered when they are able to access the opportunities available to them without limitations and restrictions such as in education, profession and lifestyle. Women empowerment should be a priority for each country and we need to work more for the integration of women in all sphere of the economic, social and political life of our countries.
